IoTBox Helper

IoTBox Helper is a desktop tool for industrial IoT operations and maintenance. It includes remote technical support (wproxy), VPN connection management, routing table configuration, and local network device scanning, making it easier for operations staff to access and manage IoTBox gateways remotely.

Core Features

🛰️Remote Technical Support (wproxy)
Includes wproxy functionality. When a gateway is offline, a laptop connected to a phone hotspot can act as a relay to establish an encrypted tunnel. Technical staff can then access industrial devices on the local network remotely to troubleshoot them. There is no need to download the wproxy tool separately.
🔐VPN Connection Management
After signing in to the IoTBox gateway management system, you can view a list of all online gateways. Select a gateway and click "Connect" to establish a VPN tunnel automatically. Your computer receives a VPN IP address, which you can use to access the gateway management interface directly without any additional configuration.
🗺️Routing Table Configuration
Once connected over VPN, add custom routing rules to reach other devices on the gateway's internal network from your computer. For example, after configuring a route, you can directly access PLC, CNC, SCADA, and other industrial devices behind the gateway without going on site.
📡Local Network Gateway Scanning
The tool uses UDP broadcasts to scan for all IoTBox gateways on the current local network and displays details such as model, device fingerprint, firmware version, and network interface settings. This helps quickly discover and configure devices in bulk when bringing new equipment online.

How to Use

Connect to a Gateway over VPN

Sign in with an account and password or by scanning a WeChat QR code
View Online Gateways
The list of all online gateways loads automatically after sign-in
Select and Connect
Select a gateway from the list and click Connect
Get a VPN IP
After connecting, your computer is automatically assigned a dedicated VPN IP address
5
Access the Gateway Management Interface
Open the gateway management interface directly using the assigned VPN IP address

Access Devices Behind the Gateway

After connecting over VPN, open the "Route Management" tab:

  1. Select the connected gateway as the routing gateway
  2. Add a route for the target device's subnet (for example, 192.168.1.0/24)
  3. Save it; your computer can then ping or access PLC, CNC, and other devices behind the gateway directly

Scan for Gateways on the Local Network

  1. Make sure your computer and the gateway are on the same local network (wired or wireless)
  2. Open the "Scan" feature and click "Start Scan"
  3. The tool automatically discovers all IoTBox gateways on the local network via UDP broadcast
  4. Review the scan results for each gateway's IP address, model, firmware version, and other details
  5. You can open the corresponding gateway management interface directly

Typical Use Cases

🏭 Remote Maintenance of Factory Equipment
When a gateway on the factory floor is isolated on an internal network, operations staff can connect over VPN and access its management interface or PLC devices behind it without going on site.
🔧 Troubleshooting an Offline Gateway Remotely
If a gateway cannot access the internet, technical staff can guide someone on site to use a phone hotspot as a relay and establish a tunnel with the built-in wproxy feature for remote troubleshooting.
📦 Bringing New Devices Online in Bulk
At a project delivery site, use local network scanning to discover all gateways quickly and check device information and firmware versions in bulk, improving setup efficiency.
